Works by Alexi Kaye Campbell, Kevin Elyot et al. Set for Gay UK Reading Series

Chicago-based Pride Films and Plays is set to present a series of staged readings celebrating LGBT works from the United Kingdom entitled Gay UK, June 1-19. All readings will take place at Theatre Wit.

Selections will include the bittersweet comedy by Kevin Elyot and directed by Michael Ryczek My Night With Reg, June 1. On June 5, Maurice, a play by Roger Parsley and Andy Graham based on the novel by E. M. Forster will be presented by director John Nasca. Next will be Blowing Whistles, June 8, a comedy by Matthew Todd, directed by Andrew Souders, and the shocking drama Pig by Tim Luscombe, directed by Derek Bertelsen will have its reading June 15. The series will close with the Chicago premiere of Alexi Kaye Campbell’s The Pride, directed by Nick Bowling, which contrasts LGBT pride in 1958 and 2008.

Pride Films and Plays mission is to link an international network of writers with professionals working in film and theater. Through readings, contests, classes, screenings, and full theater productions of stories with gay and lesbian characters or themes, PFP aims to engage artists and audiences in the full developmental process needed to make great artistic experiences.
