Ian Barford, Martha Lavey, and More Set for Steppenwolf’s Up

Cast and creative team are set for Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s production of Up, by Bridget Carpenter, to play the Downstairs Theatre, June 18-August 23. Anna D. Shapiro will direct.

The play centers on Walter, who once built a flying machine that reached the clouds. Ever since, he’s tried to invent new ways to fly while his wife keeps the family afloat.

The cast will feature Ian Barford (Walter), Rachel Brosnahan (Maria), Jake Cohen (Mikey Griffin), Tony Hernandez (Philippe Petit), Lauren Katz (Helen Griffin), and Martha Lavey (Aunt Chris).

The design team will include Dan Ostling (sets), Mara Blumenfeld (costumes), Ann G. Wrightson (lights), Richard Woodbury (sound), and David Singer (composition).
