Steppenwolf has announced the 2008-2009 Steppenwolf for Young Adults Season, which will include works from Tennessee Williams and John Steinbeck. Performances will take place in the Steppenwolf Downstairs Theatre.

The season will open with The Glass Menagerie by Williams, October 21-November 9, which will be directed by ensemble member Yasen Peyankov and feature ensemble member Alana Arenas. This production will feature an all African-American cast who will flesh out the drab realities of aspiring poet Tom, his overbearing mother Amanda, and his crippled sister Laura.

The season will also include Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men, April 21-May 10, which will be directed by Michael Patrick Thornton. This classic tale follows the friendship of two migrant workers in California during the Great Depression, George Milton and his mentally-disabled friend, Lennie Small.
