Additional principal casting has been announced for Broadway in Chicago's world premiere of Amazing Grace, a new musical based on the true story behind the world-famous Christian hymn, starring Tony Award nominee Josh Young (Jesus Christ Superstar).

Joining Young will be Erin Mackey (South Pacific at Paper Mill Playhouse), Tony nominee Tom Hewitt (Jesus Christ Superstar), Tony winner Chuck Cooper (Act One), Chris Hoch (Matilda The Musical), Stanley Bahorek (Honeymoon in Vegas), Harriett D. Foy (Mamma Mia!), and Laiona Michelle (The Book of Mormon national tour).

The musical follows John Newton (Young), a musically talented young Englishman coming of age at a time when Britain sat atop an international empire of slavery, as he travels through a perilous high-seas voyage that brings him to a transformative moment of self-reckoning.

The production features a score by Christopher Smith, a book by Smith and Arthur Giron, choreography by Tony winner Christopher Gattelli, and direction by Gabriel Barre.

Performances will run at Chicago's Bank of America Theatre from October 9-November 2, with opening night set for October 19.
