The Hypocrites, Redtwist Theatre, Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre, et al. Receive Non-Equity Jeff Award Nominations

The nominations for the non-Equity wing of the Joseph Jefferson Awards have been announced. The prizes will be presented in a ceremony to be held on June 6 at Park West.

The most highly nominated show is The Hypocrites’ production of Cabaret, which has received nine nominations, including one for Best Production – Musical. The show also received nominations for director Matt Hawkins and performer Jesse Fisher, among others. The Hypocrites’ production of The Pirates of Penzance has also been nominated in the musical category, as have Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, produced by Bohemian Theatre Ensemble, Boojum! Nonsense, Truth and Lewis Carroll, produced by Chicago DCA Theater, Caffeine Theatre and Chicago Opera Vanguard, and Cats, produced by Theo Ubique Cabaret, with Michael James.

For Best Production – Play, Redtwist Theatre has earned three nominations for A Delicate Balance, Lobby Hero, and Man From Nebraska, along with Stage Door from Lifeline Theatre, The Love of the Nightingale from Red Tape Theatre, and The Master and Margarita from Strawdog Theatre Company.

Other nominations have gone to Brenda Didier, Sean Graney, Caroline Neff, Josh Schmidt, and Bethany Thomas, among others.
