Garlin, Dybek, Turner Set for Victory Gardens’ Chicago Stories Gala

Comedian Jeff Garlin, author Stuart Dybek, and community leader Allen Turner are this year’s celebrity playwrights for Victory Gardens Theater’s Chicago Stories gala, May 9, at the Four Seasons Hotel. Dennis Zacek will direct all three short plays.

Chicago Stories one-night-only presentation of three 10-minute plays. Proceeds will help underwrite world premiere productions, education programs for Chicago Public Schools, assistive devices and services for the disabled community, and making theater available to under-served audiences.

An alumnus of The Second City, Garlin’s credits include Curb Your Enthusiasm, Mad About You, Full Frontal, Everybody Loves Raymond and others. Dybek is a Distinguished Writer in Residence at Northwestern University and a recipient of a 2007 MacArthur “Genius” Grant. Turner is Board Chairman of Columbia College of Chicago and also heads the Newberry Library’s D’Arcy McNickle Center for American Indian Studies.
