What a Glorious Feeling, a Portrait of Gene Kelly, to Make Chicago Premiere at Theatre at the Center

This behind-the-scenes look at Singin' in the Rain will begin performances April 25.

By Chicago

What a Glorious Feeling, an homage to one of the greatest movie musicals of all time, will have its Chicago premiere at Theatre at the Center beginning April 25 and running through June 2. Artistic director William Pullinsi will direct the production, which will feature choreography by Jeff Award winner Danny Herman.

Inspired by true events, What a Glorious Feeling is a play with music created by Jay Berkow. It tells of the love triangle that occurred during the filming of the 1952 film Singin' In the Rain. Gene Kelly falls in love with assistant Jeanne Coyne, who happens to be co-director Stanley Donen's ex-wife, as all three of them work on the project.

The play stars Jeff Award winner Richard Strimer, Cara Salerno, Nicole Miller, Mike Danovich, and Robert Hildreth.

The artistic team features William A. Underwood (musical direction and orchestrations) as well as scenic designer Angie Weber-Miller, lighting designer Charles Cooper, sound designer Barry G. Funderburg, costume designer Brenda Winstead, wig designer Kevin Barthel, and props designer Lauren Earnshaw.
