PigPen Theatre Co. is set to make its Chicago debut with the Midwest premiere of The Old Man and the Old Moon at Writers' Theatre September 3 through November 10, with a press opening September 12.

Written and performed collaboratively by the company, The Old Man and the Old Moon is the tale of an old man who must abandon his duties of filling up the moon every month to cross the seas in search of his missing wife.

The company, which wrote and produced the show, features Alex Falberg, Ben Ferguson, Curtis Gillen, Ryan Melia, Matt Nuernberger, Arya Shahi, and Daniel Weschler.

PigPen uses indie-folk music and puppetry for their original storytelling, and have sold out theaters nationwide. The guys of PigPen Theatre Co. first performed together at Carnegie Mellon University, and most recently presented The Old Man and the Old Moon off-Broadway at the Gym at Judson. PigPen is the only company to win top honors at the New York International Fringe Festival two years in a row, in 2010 for The Nightmare Story, and in 2011 for The Mountain Song.
