Mike Daisey’s April 7 Chicago Theatre Engagement Cancelled
The Agony and The Ecstasy of Steve Jobs

Mike Daisey’s previously announced one-night-only performance of his monologue The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs, scheduled for Saturday, April 7 at The Chicago Theatre, has been cancelled.
An official announcement has said that the show’s sponsors, This American Life and the Chicago Radio station WBEZ 91.5FM that carries the program, “have cancelled [the] live presentation of Mike Daisey’s The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs at The Chicago Theatre, April 7, following the revelation of numerous fabrications in Daisey’s story as it aired on This American Life earlier this year.”
Daisey’s monologue focuses on the trip that the narrator, a self-professed “worshipper in the cult of Mac,” takes to China to see for himself how his favorite the electronic products are manufactured, and finds that the world’s thirst for the newest gadgets has far-reaching implications.
This American Life will devote its entire program this weekend to detailing the errors in the story, an excerpt of Mike Daisey’s critically acclaimed one-man show, as it aired.
