Jenny Bacon and Mark L. Montgomery will star in The Goodman Theatre’s production of Sarah Ruhl’s Stage Kiss, to play April 30-June 5. Jessica Thebus will direct.

In the play, ex-lovers HE (Montgomery) and SHE (Bacon) are thrown together as romantic leads in a long-forgotten 1930s melodrama, and quickly lose touch with reality as the story onstage begins to follow them offstage.

The cast will also feature Jeffrey Carlson, Erica Elam, Scott Jaeck, Ross Lehman, and Sarah Tolan-Mee.

The design team will include Todd Rosenthal (set), Linda Roethke (costumes), James Ingalls (lighting) and Andre Pluess (sound).

Bacon’s Off-Broadway credits include In the Wake at The Public Theater and Ivo van Hove’s productions of A Streetcar Named Desire and More Stately Mansions, with previous credits at the Goodman including A Touch of the Poet and Three Sisters. Montgomery has appeared on Broadway in The Seagull and Mamma Mia! and in Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s productions of Twelfth Night and Henry IV, Parts 1 and 2.
