Gale Edwards, Gary Griffin, Aurélia Thiérrée, et al. Set for Chicago Shakespeare’s 2010-2011 Season

Chicago Shakespeare Theater has announced the lineup for its 2010-2011 season, which will begin with Gale Edwards’s production of Romeo and Juliet (September 15-November 14).

Gary Griffin will direct As You Like it (January 5-March 6, 2011), with the Subscription Series also including The Madness of George III (April 13-June 12) by Alan Bennett.

CST Artistic Director Barbara Gaines will direct Verdi’s Macbeth at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, as well as a production in the theater Upstairs at Chicago Shakespeare, which will be announced at a later date.

CST’s World’s Stage Series will begin with Itsoseng (June 9-20), written and performed by Omphile Molusi, and continue with performance artist Aurélia Thiérrée in Aurélia’s Oratorio (December 1-12); Druid Theatre Company’s celebrated production of The Cripple of Inishmaan (March 15-27) by Martin McDonagh, and directed by Garry Hynes.

CST Family programming will include the world premiere of Alan Schmuckler and David Holstein’s The Emperor’s New Clothes (June 30-August 29) and Short Shakespeare! Macbeth (January 22-March 5)–a 75-minute abridged production created for families.
