Northlight Theatre will open its 2011-2012 season with the new Stephen Schwartz musical, Snapshots, September 16-October 23. Ken Sawyer will direct the production, which ll feature musical staging by Karl Christian, and musical supervision and arrangements by Steve Orich

Described as “a musical scrapbook,” it features a book by David Stern and includes some of the best-loved music and lyrics by the creator of Wicked, Godspell, Pippin! and Working. The musical reveals the humorous twists and unexpected turns of a middle-aged couple’s reminiscence of how love brought them together and why life pushed them apart. For this newly adapted musical, Schwartz has rewritten many of the lyrics to even the most familiar songs, to stay true to the show’s story and characters.

The season will continue with BJ.Jones’ production of Alan Ayckbourn’s comedy Season’s Greetings (November 11-December 18); Frank Higgins’ play with music, Black Pearl Sings, starring E. Faye Butler (January 13-February 19); and Jones’ production of Jeffrey Hatcher’s new play Ten Chimneys, about Alfred Lunt, Lynn Fontanne, and Uta Hagen (March 9-April 15). A fifth play will be announced at a later date.
