A seven-person high-wire pyramid — a nod toward the seven gods of Mt. Olympus and featuring members of the famed Wallenda family — will be a new feature of the Lookingglass Theatre’s Hephaestus: A Greek Mythology Circus Tale, when it plays at the Goodman Theatre, running April 7 – May 23. Tony Hernandez, who created the piece, co-directs with Heidi Sullivan.

The show combines elements of circus, theater, live music, and dance. It focuses on the mythical character of Hephaestus, who was born weak, disfigured and crippled, and who was cast from the heavens by his mother, Hera. On Earth, Hephaestus becomes a great artist, fashioning metal into beautiful works of art.

The company for the production will feature Wallenda family members Lijana, Erendira, and Nik Wallenda, of the world famous circus dynasty, along with Hernandez, Almas Meirmanov, Anna Stankus, Aislinn Mulligan, Rani Waterman, Tatianna Ranallo, Khori Faison, Katie Kasper, Hanna Jarvis, Nich Galzin, and Jarrett Dapier.
