ICT to Host Keely and Du Post-Show Discussions On Abortion

In conjunction with the production of Jane Martin’s Keely and Du, directed by Kurt Naebig, Infamous Commonwealth Theatre will host three post-show talkbacks dealing with the central source of conflict in the play: Abortion.

  • “Pro-Life as Anti-Violence” will discuss the pro-life perspective, featuring Alicia Torres, Young Adult Outreach Coordinator with the Respect Life Office of the Archdiocese of Chicago, March 6.
  • “Five Lessons Learned from Illegal Abortion” will discuss the pro-choice perspective, featuring Paula Kamen, a Visiting Research Scholar with Northwestern University’s Gender Studies Program, March 9.
  • “Which is the ‘Right’ perspective – and why?”
    will discuss both pro-life and pro-choice perspectives and is presented as part of a League of Chicago Theatres’ Theater Thursday event, March 20. Drinks and appetizers will be provided before the show as well.

Keely and Du debuted at the Actors Theatre of Louisville and went on to receive a Pulitzer Prize nomination and the American Theatre Critics Association New Play Award in 1993. Martin’s other works include Vital Signs, What Mama Don’t Know, Cementville, Criminal Hearts, and Middle-Aged White Guys.
