Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company has announced complete casting for its upcoming world premiere of The Way West, written by Mona Mansour and directed by ensemble member and two-time Tony nominee Amy Morton (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?).

Set in a run-down, modern-day California town, The Way West tells the story of a mother who exudes an all-American frontier spirit. She shares death-defying tales of pioneer crossings with her two bickering adult daughters as she waits for her bankruptcy to come through. The six-member cast features Steppenwolf Artistic Director Martha Lavey (The March), Ira Amyx (The Seafarer), Caroline Neff (Older Children), Deirdre O'Connell (The Wake), Zoe Perry (The Other Place), and Gabe Ruiz (Blood and Gifts).

The production team includes Kevin Depinet (scenic design), Nan Cibula-Jenkins (costume design), David Weiner (lighting design), Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen (sound design and original music), and Malcolm Ruhl (musical director).

Performances begin April 3 in advance of an April 13 opening and will run through June 8 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre.
