Silk Road Rising to Present Two World Premieres in 2012 Season

For their 2012 season, Silk Road Rising will present two world premieres, Re-Spiced: A Silk Road Cabaret, to run April 4-May 6, and Night Over Erzinga, to run October 9-November 11. Both will be held at The Historic Chicago Temple Building’s Pierce Hall.

Jamil Khoury’s Re-Spiced: A Silk Road Cabaret is a musical pastiche of Asian and Middle Eastern images in American and British song. Re-Spiced features direction by Steve Scott, musical direction by Ryan Brewster and choreography by Brenda Didier.

Night Over Erzinga portrays the interweaving tales of three generations of Armenian Americans. From collective tragedy to personal triumph, ancestors reunite with the living in playwright Adriana Sevahn Nichols’s journey toward making peace with the past and finding solace amidst despair. Lisa Portes directs.
