Renée Fleming, Anna Netrebko, Susanna Philips Set for Lyric Opera of Chicago’s 2012-2013 Season

The Lyric Opera of Chicago has announced its plans for the 2012-2013 season.

Among the season highlights will be the new staged concert presentation of Andre Previn’s opera based on Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire, which will feature the previously announced Renée Fleming as Blanche, along with Susanna Philips as Stella, Teddy Tahu Rhodes as Stanley, and Anthony Dean Griffey as Mitch. Brad Dalton will direct the offering which will be conducted by Evan Rogister.

Other new productions in the season will be Richard Strauss’ Elektra, directed by David McVicar; Massenet’s Werther, directed by Francisco Negrin; Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, directed by Marie Lambert, based on McVicar’s original; offering is one of XYZ new productions on the company’s schedule.

In addition, the company will give the San Francisco Opera production of Puccini’s La bohème, with Anna Netrebko in the role of Mimi during its March 2013 performances, its Chicago premiere. Also receiving its Chicago premiere will be Dallas Opera’s production of Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, directed by Sir Thomas Allen.
