The Idea Place to Present Repertory of Early Charles Busch Plays

The Idea Place will present Busch Fest, a repertory of four early plays by drag legend and playwright Charles Busch, at Mary’s Attic, January 22-February 20.

Program A will include Vampire Lesbians of Sodom and Sleeping Beauty of Coma. Program B will include Theodora She-Bitch of Byzantium and Pardon My Inquisition or Kiss The Blood Off My Castanets. Will Rogers serves as executive producer, as well as director of Theodora and Sleeping Beauty. Andrew Hobgood directs Vampire Lesbians, while Jeffrey Bouthiette directs Castanets. Lee Strauberg is production designer, and Kate Setzer Kamphausen serves as costume designer.

The ensemble will include Dan Cox, Anthony DiNicola, Ted Evans, Sophie Gatins, Mary Hollis Inboden, Kristina Johnson, Ed Jones, Andrew Marikis, Ashleigh Ross, and Danny Taylor.

Busch is the author and star of such plays as The Lady in Question, Red Scare on Sunset, The Third Story, and Die, Mommie, Die! His Broadway play The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife won the Outer Circle Critics’ John Gassner Award, and received a Tony nomination for Best Play. He is also the recipient of a 2003 special Drama Desk Award for career achievement. His latest play, The Divine Sister, is being workshopped at Theater for the New City in New York next month.
