Galati, Smith, et al. Set for Steppenwolf’s The Tempest

Full casting has been announced for Steppenwolf Theatre’s production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, to run March 26-May 31. Tina Landau will direct.

In the play, Prospero is exiled to an enchanted island where he harnesses the powers of magic and masters the spirits that dwell there. His desire for revenge drives him to conjure a mighty storm, trapping his enemies on the island.

Frank Galati will star as Prospero, with the cast also including Alana Arenas (Miranda), K. Todd Freeman (Caliban), Stephen Louis Grush (Ferdinand), Jon Michael Hill (Ariel), Tim Hopper (Trinculo), James Vincent Meredith (Antonio), Yasen Peyankov (Stephano), Lois Smith (Gonzalo), Craig Spidle (Alonso), and Alan Wilder (Sebastian). The ensemble will also feature Eric James Casady, Miles Fletcher, and Emma Rosenthal.

The design team will include Takeshi Kata (set), James Schuette (costumes), Jane Cox (lights) and Josh Schmidt (sound).
