BIO

Composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim is best known for his musicals, although he has also written incidental music for both stage and film. His works include Assassins, Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd, Follies, A Funny Thing Happened On the Way To the Forum, and Sunday in the Park With George, for which he received the Pulitzer Prize in Drama. Sondheim also wrote the lyrics for Gypsy and West Side Story. In addition the Pulitzer, Sondheim has also won Grammy, Academy and a record eight Tony Awards for his music. In 2010, the former Henry Miller's Theatre on 43rd Street was renamed The Stephen Sondheim Theatre in his honor.
