Stephen Daldry is an accomplished stage and film director. He has been nominated three times for the Best Director Academy Award for The Hours, The Reader, and Billy Elliot. Daldry also directed the stage productions of Billy Elliot: The Musical in London's West End and on Broadway. He won the 2009 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical for Billy Elliot. His other Broadway productions include Via Dolorosa and An Inspector Calls for which he won a Tony Award. Daldry frequently works in London's West End, collaborating playwrights like Carly Churchill, David Hare, and Howard Korder. Daldry served as the Artistic Director of London's Royal Court Theatre from 1992-1998.
