Neil Patrick Harris began his professional acting career at the age of 15 with roles in the films Purple People Eater and Clara's Heart. Soon after, he was cast in the lead role of the television show Doogie Howser, M.D., for which he won a People's Choice Award and was nominated for a Golden Globe. Since Doogie Howser, M.D. ended, Harris has been successful in television, film, and on stage. In addition to appearances on dozens of television shows, he has starred for several years on the award-winning sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Harris's film appearances include the Harold and Kumar movies, The Proposition, and the upcoming Beastly. On Broadway, Neil Patrick Harris has played in Cabaret, Proof, and Assassins, and he hosted the 2009 Tony and Emmy Awards.
