BIO

Jeremy Irons’ most recent New York stage appearance was as Fredrik in New York City Opera’s 2003 revival of A Little Night Music. His two Broadway credits are Impressionism, with Joan Allen, and the New York premiere of The Real Thing, for which he, Glenn Close, and Christine Baranski all won Tonys. In England, Irons has worked extensively with the Bristol Old Vic and the Royal Shakespeare Company, whose alumni also include his wife, Sinéad Cusack. Recent London stage productions include Embers and the National Theatre’s Never So Good. Irons was the voice of Scar in Disney’s 1994 animated film, The Lion King. He won an Academy Award for Best Actor for Reversal of Fortune. Other major films include Dead Ringers, The French Lieutenant’s Woman, Nijinksy, Betrayal, The Mission, Damage, The House of the Spirits, M. Butterfly, Die Hard with a Vengeance, The Man in the Iron Mask, and the upcoming Pink Panther 2.  Two of his most famous roles have been for TV miniseries: the landmark 1981 “Brideshead Revisited,” for which he was nominated for an Emmy, and the 2006 “Elizabeth I,” starring Helen Mirren, for which he won an award as Outstanding Supporting Actor.
