Jeff Daniels' best-known stage work was as an Obie-winning member of the legendary Circle Repertory Company with whom he worked on Fifth of July, Johnny Got His Gun, Redwood Curtain, and the original production of Gemini. Other New York credits include Yasmina Reza's God of Carnage, A. R. Gurney's The Golden Age, Blackbird at Manhattan Theatre Club, and two classics at Second Stage, The Shortchanged Review, which was the company's inaugural production in 1979, and Lanford Wilson's Lemon Sky. Daniels is the founder of the Michigan-based Purple Rose Theatre Company, which is named after one of his most prominent movies, Woody Allen's The Purple Rose of Cairo. Other films: Dumb and Dumber, Terms of Endearment, Heartburn, Something Wild, Radio Days, The House on Carroll Street, Arachnophobia, Gettysburg, Speed, Fly Away Home, 101 Dalmations, Pleasantville, Blood Work, Gods and Generals, The Squid and the Whale, Because of Winn-Dixie, The Hours, Imaginary Heroes, and Goodnight and Good Luck.
