BIO

While studying at the University of Connecticut, David Pittsinger wasn't convinced he had a career in opera - his college soccer team were the national champions in his freshman year and he interned with Connecticut Senator (and later Governor) Lowell Weicker. But when, at age 19, he was taken under the wing of opera singer Richard Cross and his wife Doris he flourished, becoming an in-demand vocalist all over Europe. Pittsinger made his Metropolitan Opera debut as Truelove in The Rake’s Progress and went on to appear in the MET productions of Don Carlo, La Boheme, Die Zauberflote and Giulio Cesare. He can be heard on the Grammy Award-winning Virgin Classics record of Carlysle Floyd’s Susannah and in La Calisto by Cavalli on the Harmonia Mundi label. David took over the role of Emile De Becque in the Tony-winning 2008 Lincoln Center revival of South Pacific.
