Born in the U.S. but raised in Zimbabwe, Danai Gurira is best known for her Obie-winning two-woman play, In the Continuum. Her other off-Broadway acting credits include God Brothers and Sweet Mercy. Her newest works as a playwright are Eclipsed and The Convert. The revival of August Wilson's Joe Turner's Come and Gone is Gurira's Broadway debut. On screen she has been seen in The Visitor, 25/8, Ghost Town, Three Backyards, Trial of Charumathi, Patience, and in the TV series Life on Mars, Nurse Jackie, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
