Amanda Root is making her Broadway debut with The Norman Conquests, but is an established actor in the UK. Perhaps most recognizable to U.S. audiences as Anne Elliot in the 1995 film Persuasion, her other movies include Jane Eyre, In the West, and Whatever Happened to Harold Smith?. Root was with the Royal Shakespeare Company from 1983 to 1991, where she played Juliet to Daniel Day-Lewis's Romeo and Cressida to Ralph Fiennes' Troilus. On TV she has been on Star Trek: New Voyages, The Robinsons, All About Me, and Little Britain.
