Playwright Neil LaBute was born in Detroit, Michigan. His many plays, including This is How it Goes, Fat Pig, The Shape of Things and The Mercy Seat have been produced all over the world to critical acclaim. He was recently nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play for his Broadway debut play, Reasons To Be Pretty. He often serves as the director for his films ilcuding Tumble, The Shape of Things, and Bash: Latter-Day Plays. LaBute has attended Brigham Young University, the University of Kansas, and New York University.
