With over 200 million album sales and a career spanning four decades, Elton John is one of the most widely-heard recording artists of all time. His discography includes such popular songs as "Your Song," "Rocket Man," "Benny and the Jets," Crocodile Rock," "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me," "can You feel the Love Tonight," and many more. While most of his popular music has been written with lyricist Bernie Taupin, John collaborated with Tim Rice on the score of Disney's animated film The Lion King which won him an academy award in 1994. He collaborated with Rice again for Broadway's Aida for which he won his first Tony Award in 2000. His other Broadway and West End endeavors include The Lion King, Lestat, and Billy Elliot: The Musical. He has won five Grammy awards. In 1995 John was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II. A leading philanthropist, he has raised over 100 million dollars through the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
