Larry Bryggman, Debra Monk, and Brad Oscar will star in James Lapine's new play with music Mrs. Miller Does Her Thing, September 18-October 4 at the Vineyard Playhouse on Martha's Vineyard. Lapine will direct the production, which will feature choreography by Lisa Shriver and musical direction by Michael Starobin.

The piece, loosely based on the life of real-life singer Elvira Miller, is set in 1966 when an off-pitch 59-year-old woman suddenly emerges at the top of the music charts. Lapine's credits as a writer and director include Sunday in the Park With George, for which he won the Pulitzer Prize, Into the Woods, and Passion.

The cast will also feature Nick Blaemire, Molly Camp, Carly Hughes, Jacqui Polk, and Eric Santagata. The creative team includes Jennifer Caprio (costumes), Jeff Croiter (lighting), and Dan Moses Schreier (sound).
