Marya Lowry, Jan O'Dell to Star in Reading of Play About Lillian Hellman on Martha's Vineyard

Jan O'Dell will play Lillian Hellman and Marya Lowry will play Mary McCarthy in a staged reading of the new play The Julia Wars, by Hellman's biographer, William Wright. MJ Bruder Munafo will direct the piece at The Vineyard Playhouse on Martha's Vineyard, July 27 at 7 pm.

The play is based on interviews with McCarthy, Muriel Gardiner and close associates of all three principals. The story revolves around the infamous dispute between Hellman and McCarthy over statements McCarthy made on the Dick Cavett show in 1979. The performance will be followed by a brief question and answer session and an informal reception.
