The Cape Playhouse in Dennis, Massachusetts has announced additional details for its 82nd anniversary season.

The summer season will kick off with Marc Salem’s Mind Games (June 23-July 5), featuring the world-famous mentalist in a series of astounding and mystifying games, using psychological techniques and visual information to explore the possibilities of the human mind.

Next up will be the 1980 Tony Award-winning A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine (July 7-19), a musical comedy with Act I taking place in the lobby of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in the 1930s and Act II in the Pavlenko mansion in the Ukraine. The production will be directed by James Brennan, with choreography by Matt Castle, who will appear in the show alongside Jonathan Brody, Susan Cella, Erin Crouch, Jeffry Denman, Michelle Dyer, Marie Ellen Marsh, Michael McGrath, and Jonathan Richard Sandler.

Next up will be recent Broadway musical hit Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (July 21-August 2). Based on the 1988 film of the same name, the tuner is about two con artists living on the French Riviera. The season will continue with Leader of the Pack (August 4-16), taking audiences on a musical journey back to the 50’s and 60’s with songs like “Be My Baby,” “Da Doo Ron Ron,” “Chapel of Love” and “Then He Kissed Me.”

Garson Kanin’s Born Yesterday (August 18-30) will follow. This 1940’s comedy is about a crude tycoon who brings his showgirl-mistress to Washington D.C. where he hopes to ‘buy’ a few congressmen with her charms. The season will conclude with the regional premiere of The Devil’s Music: The Life and Blues of Bessie Smith (September 1-13), written by award-winning playwright Angelo Parra. The show traces Bessie’s life from her childhood in Tennessee, to her vaudeville shows with Ma Rainey that lead to her rapid success in the Roaring 20’s.
