WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Based on Pedro Almodóvar's internationally acclaimed 1988 film, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown is set in late 20th-century Madrid and tells the story of the intertwining lives of a group of women whose relationships with men lead to a tumultuous 48 hours of love, confusion and passion.

WHAT ARE CRITICS SAYING?

If waste were the eighth deadly sin, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, now at the Belasco Theatre under the auspices of Lincoln Center Theater, would be accused of committing it big-time. Rarely has a show squandered so much major musical comedy talent.

Up there on the beautifully refurbished Belasco stage are such luminaries as Patti LuPone, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Laura Benanti, Sherie Rene Scott, Danny Burstein, Justin Guarini, de'Adre Aziza, Alma Cuervo, and Mary Beth Piel. Fun. Creative. Full of laughs! Forget the crtics.
This is a wonderfully creative, wacky, and fun musical--very original, colorful sets and costumes, and bouncy songs with intelligent lyrics. All of the actors were absolutely great and way out there--especially Patti Lupone and Patti Benanti. Again, the critics got it wrong with this delighful musical comedy! Treat yourself and go with it. Have fun!

"WOMEN " MISSES THE MARK
This show has all the externals to be freshly original, but the book is so lacking in the wit and quirky humor of the classic movie that it is almost disasterous and the songs are so devoid of melody or style that no one in the talented cast could possably put them over. It ends up being a low point of a dismal season[so far] on Broadway.
