The Sam. S. Shubert Theatre (named for one of the famous producing brothers) is a favorite among Broadway's flagship musical houses. At the time of its construction, zoning laws required all theaters have alleys attached to their side entrances. The shared side walls of the Shubert and Booth Theatres formed the famous Shubert Alley. The marquee out front is one of the theater district's landmarks: stand at the corner of Broadway and 44th Street and look west for a spectacular view. The best seats are located in the orchestra between Rows C through K. The Shubert has a seating capacity of 1,504 to 1,545.
