The People in the Picture

I was truly touched by this production. The beginning of the first act was a bit confusing, but once I understood the unfolding drama, I was captivated by the storys universal appeal. This play is about family and the seemingly impossible decisions that sometimes must be made. I laughed and was often moved to tears. And when it was all over, I found myself thinking of the characters as if I had truly known them. I recommend this play to anyone who enjoys a hearty laugh and a good cry.

Wonderful New Musical.

All three generations of my family enjoyed this show! It is a rare gem about real life and people feelings, about love and understanding, about kindness and cruelty.. and much more.. Good music and great acting.. MUST SEE!

The People in the Picture

This was a wonderful play!! I cried my eyes out and wished it was longer. BTW, Im not jewish but I loved it anyway!!! Any New Yorker could relate no matter what religion. Five stars!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful but not for everybody

This is a wonderful musical but not for everyones taste. You do not have to be Jewish but you should at least be aware that there was at 1 time a huge Yiddish Theatre. Singing and actng were wonderful. The grand daughter was wonderful and had a strong voicve for a child her age. Many very sad moments so if you want light musical this is not for you

oy

a mostly terrific cast cant overcome the cringeworthy book and lyrics, which at their best are appropriate for an elementary school theatre outing - and at their worst seem to aim for the heights of a hallmark movie, and fail.

See it

Donna Murphy is great and not to be missed. Great story and music. My only roblem was with the large picture frame jutting out on an angle. From where I was sitting it blocked some of my view for the projections on the screen. Maybe the frame can move perpinticular to the stage as the prolouge music plays

A universal story

All I can say is, "Wow". I laughed, I cried. A show not to be missed.

This show is for a limited audience. Although the second act displayed some improvement, most of the audience left at intermission. Sorry folks - if you are looking for a high school production - you might like this show.

Saturday April 2 at 8 pm

I was in B9, second row left for the Saturday evening show. A woman sat to my left but got up several times to speak with two men. I later learned she was Iris Rainer Dart, book and lyrics, and probably Mike Stroller and Artie Butler, music. It was only day 2, so lots of nervous conversations! At the end of the show Ms. Dart and I chatted very briefly. She had read my face and thought I did not like the show. I told her I related to it so intensely, I was trying hard not to cry. Great production and Donna Murphy and her cast members were outstanding. Songs, music and thoughts of our family relationships to remember long after the show. Prepare to be moved and changed.
