WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Nominated for 5 Tony Awards including Best Musical!

Based on the smash-hit film, Sister Act features an original score by 8-time Oscar® and 10-time Grammy Award® winner Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, The Little Mermaid, Enchanted) and direction by 4-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks (La Cage aux Folles, A Funny Thing..., Guys and Dolls.)

Disco diva Deloris Van Cartier (Raven-Symoné) has dreams of hitting the big time. But when she walks in on a "hit" of a different kind, the cops hide her in the last place anyone would think to look - a convent! At first, Deloris - disguised as "Sister Mary Clarence" - has trouble adjusting to life under the strict rule of Mother Superior. But when she transforms the convent's choir into the most glorious new musical act in town, Deloris forms a lasting bond with her newfound friends... and the gang that's chasing her finds itself up against an unstoppable team of soulful sisters!

Don't miss this spectacular and hilarious American premiere. A sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, Sister Act is reason for Broadway to rejoice!

Sister Act will offer a limited number of $26.50 rush tickets (price includes $1.50 facility fee) in the front row of the orchestra for each performance. These rush tickets, which are available to all patrons, can be purchased at the box office only, beginning at 10:00am the day of the performance (12:00pm on Sundays). There is a limit of 2 tickets per person.

WHAT ARE CRITICS SAYING?

There's a lot of fun to be had at Sister Act, the new musical at the Broadway Theatre, based upon the 1992 movie of the same name, which has arrived in New York having undergone a number of changes since its recent London mounting.

For example, Whoopi Goldberg, who starred in the film, is now one of the producers for the show's Broadway premiere; Tony Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane has added material to the original book; and, above all, four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks has been brought on board to direct, and shares in both the credit for what works in the show and the blame for what doesn't.

The plot follows Deloris Van Cartier (Patina Miller), a young African-American singer [...]

Such a wonderful show!
There is a reason why Alan Menken has won 8 Oscar awards... this music is Fabulous! I was concerned it wouldnt work when I heard they werent using the music from the movie, but it was awesome. The fact that the music is all new and the show is still a success, is a testament to the plot alone. The production value is amazing and the actors are divine! Patina Miller is a showstopper and Victoria Clark is amazing as always. I wish they sold Mirrored Marys at the Merchandise stand! Thank you Sister Act!

An Entertaining, Lighthearted Act
This show is perfect for theater goers who prefer lighthearted entertainment. I usually prefer meatier productions, but I still enjoyed Sister Act. Great singing, wonderful staging and enjoyable characters made for a good show.
