WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Nominated for 3 Tony Awards including Best Musical!

On December 4, 1956, an auspicious twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley together. The place was Sun Records' storefront studio in Memphis. The man who made it happen was Sam Phillips, the "Father of Rock 'n' Roll," who discovered them all. The four legends-to-be united for the only time in their careers for an impromptu recording that has come to be known as one of the greatest rock jam sessions of all time.

Million Dollar Quartet features a treasure trove of the greatest rock 'n' roll, gospel, R&B and country hits from these music legends, including such iconic songs as "Blue Suede Shoes," "Fever," "Sixteen Tons," "Who Do You Love?," "Great Balls of Fire," "Riders in the Sky," "I Walk the Line," "Folsom Prison Blues," and "Whole Lotta' Shakin' Goin' On."

WHAT ARE CRITICS SAYING?

On December 4, 1956, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, and Carl Perkins got together for an impromptu jam session. This historic event serves as the inspiration for the new Broadway musical, Million Dollar Quartet, now at the Nederlander Theatre. But while the tuner is pleasant enough and includes a good selection of songs made popular by these artists, it's also rather shallow and could use more theatrical electricity.

The original concept by Floyd Mutrux is a good one, but the book by Mutrux and Colin Escott is clunky, and director Eric Schaeffer has been unable to transcend its limitations. And while audiences are likely to be familiar with several of the personalities depict[...]

Fun!!!!
I have to say, going into this show, I didnt expect much. I thought it would be just another jukebox musical. I can happily say thats not how I felt when I left! I could barely keep still the music was so catchy! All the performers were absolutely outstanding! You can not deny the musicianship on that stage. I cant say the plot was riveting, its based on a true event. If they changed it... then it wouldnt be true. But I can say, I had an unshakeable grin throughout the entire show! I would love to see this show again!

Worth A Million
This is one show I am happy I saw. Simply staged, true to studio work, the performers and the realities of the time and how they relate to today. Why "dirt poor" people make great music. Brought back great memories and is a great new one.
