WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Four-time Tony Award nominee Tovah Feldshuh returns to Broadway following a critically-acclaimed and sold-out Off-Broadway run in Irena's Vow!

Dan Gordon's play is the uplifting true story about one of the most courageous and unsung heroines of World War II. During the German occupation of Poland, Irena Gut Opdyke (played by Feldshuh), a Polish Catholic, was forced to work as head housekeeper for a very prominent Nazi major. Over a two year period of service, Irena would risk her own life in order to save the lives of twelve Jewish refugees whom she secretly took under her care. Michael Parva directs.

A limited number of front row tickets will be available for purchase at the box office of the Walter Kerr Theatre for $25.00. Tickets are available the day of the performance when the box office opens and will require a valid student I.D. (2 tickets per I.D., cash only).

So it's hardly surprising that she's put her abilities to muted but determined good use as the quietly heroic, Polish Catholic Irena Gut Opdyke in Dan Gordon's powerful if predictable Irena's Vow, which has transferred essentially intact to Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre.

In the play, for which Gordon has taken the accounts Irena made about her unprepossessing derring-d[...]
