WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Based on Carol Burnett's memoir One More Time and inspired by her daughter Carrie Hamilton, Hollywood Arms is the story of three generations of women, including a girl whose only escape is on the roof of their rundown apartment building at the foot of the Hollywood Hills. The play stars Tony Award winners Linda Lavin and Frank Wood. Harold Prince directs.

WHAT ARE CRITICS SAYING?

Carol Burnett has never shied away from talking about how her alcoholic parents made her childhood and adolescence something to survive with as much pluck as she could muster. Perhaps there's a point at which generous autobiographical recollection becomes too much information. Burnett may have reached the juncture on Hollywood Arms, a fictionalized memory play written with her daughter Carrie Hamilton. Or, perhaps, Burnett and the late Hamilton -- who died earlier this year of cancer -- have spilled too many beans.
