WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Mark Brokaw directs, with choreography by Rob Ashford. John Waters serves as creative consultant.
Baltimore, 1954. Everyone likes Ike, nobody likes communism, and Wade "Cry-Baby" Walker is the coolest boy in town. He's a bad boy with a good cause -- truth, justice, and the pursuit of rock 'n roll -- and when he falls for a good girl who wants to be bad, her charm school world of bobby sox and barbershop quartets will never be the same. Wayward youth, juvenile delinquents, sexual repression, cool music, dirty lyrics, bizarre rejects...Finally, the 50's come to life! For real this time!

SUPER FUN & ENERGETIC SHOW!
Cry Baby is just plain fun. With a silly plot and script, the very talented and good looking cast works wonders. Although the music is just OK, the choreography is incredible with an amazing show stopping scene in Act II. The audience loved the show and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a big, funny, eye-popping musical.

Dont Cry, Baby! Youre no square!
With choreography to die for and witty lyrics, this play is a must see for Waters fans. Even if John Waters is not your favorite, the tap dance scene in the second half alone is worth the price of a ticket. Recommendation: If you like dancing, comedy, and pure fun, go see this musical! I guarantee a great time!

And while it turns out the reasons are many -- from the success of another Waters-based musical, Hairspray, a plotline reminiscent of another Broadway warhorse, Grease, and the presence of an Elvis Presley-like hero -- those rationales ultimately don't add up to making Cry-Baby a musical truly worth anyone's precious time.
