WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

This acclaimed play by Michael Frayn is directed by 2000 Tony Award winner Michael Blakemore and concerns a meeting between two brilliant scientists who had once done ground-breaking research together on the atom. Set in 1941, German physicist Werner Heisenberg makes a trip to Copenhagen to see Niels Bohr, a friend and colleague with whom he now has an estranged relationship.

The London production of Copenhagen won the 1998 Evening Standard and 1998 Critics' Circle Awards for Best New Play, while the Broadway production won the 2000 Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Play, and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Foreign Play. The New York production stars Philip Bosco and Michael Cumpsty as Bohr and Heisenberg, as well as Laurie Kennedy (who replaces Blair Brown through the end of the run).

Even Dinner With Friends--Donald Margulies' quiet hit and the winner of the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for Drama--is no action-packed extravaganza; the words get the spotlight. All this amounts to a gallery of great characters and fantastic dialogue--but is that enough for the average theatergoer? He who spent the '80s soaking in the let-me-entertain-you, break-the-bank, [...]
