Disney's smash hit movie Aladdin finally makes its way to the Broadway stage! Directed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon) and featuring the classic Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice score with songs like "Friend Like Me" and the Academy Award-winning "A Whole New World," Aladdin will use a new book and additional lyrics by Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer). Based on the 1988 children's novel by best-selling author Roald Dahl, Matilda: The Musical charts the journey of the young, gifted Matilda Wormwood. Matilda is an extraordinary girl with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind whose talents are constantly belittled by her cruel parents and headmistress. Dreaming of a better life for herself, she dares to take a stand against these oppressive forces and takes her destiny into her own hands.
With a book by Dennis Kelly and a score by Tim Minchin, Matilda won a record-breaking seven 2012 Olivier Awards, including Best Musical, after making its West End premiere with the Royal Shakespeare Company. The Tony Award-winning director Matthew Warchus (God of Carnage) helms the Broadway production.
Student rush tickets are $27.00 and are available at the box office only on the day of the performance (at 10AM) for Monday through Thursday performances (excluding Thursday, March 28 and Thursday, April 11, 2013). Two kinds of photo ID are required: a non-expired full-time student ID, as well as a government-issued photo ID (driver's license or passport). There is a maximum of two tickets per person per 30-day period. Tickets are subject to availability and may not be offered at all performances. There will be a minimum of 20 tickets available per performance.
