WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The smash-hit, Tony Award®-winning American Idiot is Broadway's most exciting new musical. The New York Times calls it, "thrilling and emotionally charged, as moving as anything on Broadway!" Based on Green Day's Grammy® Award-winning multi-platinum album and featuring the smash hits "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", "Holiday" and "21 Guns", American Idiot is the story of three lifelong friends, forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of suburbia. Their search for meaning in a post 9-11 world leads them on the most exhilarating journey of the Broadway season.

WHAT ARE CRITICS SAYING?
The music of Green Day has arrived on Broadway in what is undoubtedly the best new musical of the season, American Idiot, at the St. James Theatre. Based on the band's 2004 concept album of the same name, the show includes all 13 tracks -- in order! -- from the CD, and supplements it with additional Green Day songs.
Kudos should definitely go to director Michael Mayer, who is credited with the book, along with Green Day frontman and lyricist Billie Joe Armstrong. The story centers on three friends who go on separate but interlocking journeys: Johnny (John Gallagher, Jr.) descends into a life of drug addiction, Will (Michael Esper) unexpectedly becomes a father, and Tunny (Stark Sands) is s[...]

I am a classical music lover, but this show and music was just great!
I am never listen to this kind of music and after the openning song was about to leave... But as the show progressed, it was more and more enjoyable to me. I loved it so much that later on I searched and listened again for the songs from the show on uTube.

AMERICAN IDIOT
Im glad that i did not pay for this. It was loud, negative and lacking a plot. We left about half way through the performance.

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong delivers a terrific performance as St. Jimmy in the dynamic Broadway musical American Idiot, at (appropriately enough) the St. James Theatre. Based upon the band's 2004 concept album of the same name, the show includes all 13 tracks from that CD, along with additional Green Day songs.
Armstrong previously appeared in the production for a one-week, sold-out engagement this past September. The artist certainly knows his way around the show's music, having written and originally performed the songs with fellow Green Day members Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool. He's also credited with co-writing the musical's book, along with director Michael Mayer.
