WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Cameron Mackintosh presents the Royal National Theatre's
wildly-acclaimed production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's landmark musical Oklahoma!, directed by Trevor Nunn and featuring choreography by Susan Stroman. The show features such classic musical numbers as "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin," "People Will Say We're In Love," "The Surrey With the Fringe On Top" and the title song. Set in the territory of Oklahoma at the turn of the century, against a background of the rivalry between cattlemen and farmers, the musical tells the story of the farm girl Laurey and the two rivals for her affection: the cowboy Curly and Jud, the brooding farmhand. Patty Duke returns to Broadway in the role of Aunt Eller.

The show has several new principal players, all of them laudable, but its overall improvement is probably due primarily to the fact that Nunn is no longer directly involved on a day-to-day basis.
This production was praised to the heavens when it debuted in London a few years back and Hugh Jackman's performance as Curly catapulted him to film stardom. When the Broadway transfer opened at the Gershwin Thea[...]
