The Broadway musical Waitress will welcome Tony nominee Will Swenson to the production at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, producers announced today. Beginning March 31, the veteran of Hair and Priscilla Queen of the Desert who was last seen on Broadway in Disaster! will play the role of Earl, husband of Jenna.

As previously announced, Tony-nominated composer-lyricist Sara Bareilles will join the cast as Jenna the same day, along with Chris Diamantopoulos in the role of gynecologist Dr. Pomatter.

Earl is currently played by William Popp, whose final performance in the role will be on March 30. Original star Jessie Mueller, who currently stars as Jenna, will play her final performance on March 26. Drew Gehling, who originated the role of Dr. Pomatter, will play his final performance on March 30.

Inspired by Adrienne Shelley's 2007 motion picture, Waitress features songs by Bareilles, a book by Jessie Nelson, and direction by Diane Paulus. The production opened April 24, 2016, at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, and earned four Tony nominations.

In addition to Mueller, Gehling, and Popp, the current cast of Waitress includes Eric Anderson (Cal), Charity Angél Dawson (Becky), Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie), Caitlin Houlahan (Dawn), and Dakin Matthews (Joe), as well as Cate Elefante, Thay Floyd, Henry Gottfried, Molly Hager, Aisha Jackson, Molly Jobe, Max Kumangai, Anastacia McClesky, Ella Dane Morgan, Jeremy Morse, Olivia Phillip, Stephanie Torns, and Ryan Vasquez.

Waitress will begin its U.S. national tour at Cleveland’s Playhouse Square Center this October.
