Original cast member Will Swenson is set to return to the role of Javert in Cameron Mackintosh’s Broadway production of Les Misérables for a limited time beginning November 18. Swenson will step in for the current Javert, Earl Carpenter, who is recovering from a neck injury.

Carpenter will undergo an MRI this week to determine a treatment plan and timetable for recovery. He said in a statement, "As long as the results of the MRI aren’t too scary, I’ll be back on the barricade as soon as possible and I’m grateful to Will Swenson for filling in for me on short notice!"

Les Misérables currently stars Alfie Boe, the internationally acclaimed tenor, as Jean Valjean as well as Tony Award nominee Montego Glover as Fantine, Tony Award and Olivier Award nominee Gavin Lee as Thénardier, Rachel Izen as Madame Thénardier, Brennyn Lark as Eponine, Chris McCarrell as Marius, Alexandra Finke as Cosette, and Wallace Smith as Enjolras.

The Broadway revival of Les Misérables opened on March 23, 2014, at the Imperial Theatre with Ramin Karimloo in the role of Jean Valjean and Swenson in the role of Javert. Featuring songs by Alain Boublil, Claude-Michel Schönberg, and Herbert Kretzmer, the musical is based on Victor Hugo's classic novel as well as original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, an original adaptation by Trevor Nunn and John Caird, and additional material by James Fenton.
