War Paint, starring the Tony winners Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole, will celebrate its opening night tonight, April 6, at the Nederlander Theatre.

Inspired by Lindy Woodhead's book War Paint, as well as Ann Carol Grossman and Arnie Reisman's PBS documentary The Powder & the Glory, the show examines the ascent and rivalry of Helena Rubenstein (LuPone) and Elizabeth Arden (Ebersole), whose 50-year tug-of-war gave birth to an industry. The show features lyrics by Michael Korie, music by Scott Frankel, and book by Doug Wright. Michael Greif directs, with choreography by Christopher Gattelli (The King and I).

John Dossett (Dear Evan Hansen) plays Arden's husband, Tommy Lewis, and Douglas Sills (Living on Love) plays Harry Fleming, Rubinstein's confidant. LuPone, Ebersole, Dossett, and Sills all reunite after originating their roles in the world-premiere production at Chicago's Goodman Theatre.

The production's creative team includes David Korins (set design), Catherine Zuber (costume design), Kenneth Posner (lighting design), and Brian Ronan (sound design), as well as Bruce Coughlin (orchestrations) and Lawrence Yurman (music director). David Stone and Marc Platt serve as producers.
