The new musical War Paint, starring Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole, will have its Broadway debut this spring at the Nederlander Theatre, producers have announced. The Broadway opening night is scheduled for April 6, 2017, with previews beginning March 7.

Inspired by Lindy Woodhead's book War Paint, as well as Ann Carol Grossman and Arnie Reisman's PBS documentary The Powder & the Glory, the show examines the ascent and rivalry of Helena Rubenstein and Elizabeth Arden, whose 50-year tug-of-war gave birth to an industry. Michael Greif helms the production, and Christopher Gattelli (The King and I) choreographs. The show features lyrics by Michael Korie, music by Scott Frankel, and book by Doug Wright.

The production originated at Chicago's Goodman Theatre, where it opened on July 18. The Broadway transfer will feature LuPone as Rubenstein and Ebersole as Arden, roles they originated at the Goodman, alongside fellow Chicago cast members John Dossett and Douglas Sills, as Tommy Lewis and Harry Fleming, respectively. Full casting is still to be announced.

The production's creative team includes David Korins (set design), Catherine Zuber (costume design), Kenneth Posner (lighting design), and Brian Ronan (sound design), as well as Bruce Coughlin (orchestrations) and Lawrence Yurman (music director). David Stone and Marc Platt serve as producers.
