Tony Yazbeck, a 2015 Tony nominee for Best Leading Actor in a Musical, will headline the upcoming national tour of the current Tony-nominated Broadway revival of On the Town, scheduled for the 2016-2017 season.

Yazbeck will play select cities as part of the touring company, which heads out on the road to coincide with the nationwide celebrations of Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday. The full tour route, as well as the cities Yazbeck will play as Gabey, will be announced in the coming months.

On the Town, which opened at Broadway's Lyric Theatre on October 16, 2014, features direction by John Rando and choreography by Joshua Bergasse in his Broadway debut. Created by the legendary creative team of Leonard Bernstein, Betty Comden, Adolph Green, and Jerome Robbins, On the Town is a musical love letter to New York City about three sailors who aim to conquer the Big Apple while on 24-hour shore leave. This production originated at Barrington Stage Company in 2013.

Tony Yazbeck, Jay Armstrong Johnson, and Clyde Alves lead the Broadway cast as sailors Gabey, Chip, and Ozzie, with Megan Fairchild, Alysha Umphress, and Elizabeth Stanley as the women who steal their hearts. Supporting players include Jackie Hoffman as Madame Dilly, Michael Rupert as Judge Pitkin W. Bridgework, Allison Guinn as Lucy Schmeeler, and Phillip Boykin and Stephen DeRosa in a number of roles.
