Legendary Broadway star Tommy Tune doesn't appear in Terrence McNally's It's Only a Play, but his name is mentioned — as the possessor of an extravagant fur coat worn to the opening-night party of the show-within-the-show. But audiences would have had no idea on Wednesday, May 20, when Tune made a guest appearance in the fur during curtain call of the Play matinee to congratulate cast member Micah Stock on his 2015 Tony Award nomination.

Tune then "tipped" Stock, who plays a coat check attendant, a $2 bill, the same one his father gave him (with the message "You're as queer as a $2 bill") before Tune left Texas for New York City.

Following the performance, Tune alongside cast members Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, Stockard Channing, F. Murray Abraham, T.R. Knight, and Katie Finneran, and director Jack O'Brien, hosted a champagne toast in Stock's honor.
